Fetish Figurine of a Voodoo Shaman, with 2 faces on the lower part.
Among the most famous Fon creations, we can find the Botchio, fetishes used for the protection of villages, lineages and individuals.
Objects with slave chains are very rare since these were most often destroyed to erase the trauma caused by slave trade.
Many ornaments reveal its tutelary power. During Voodoo ceremonies, the shaman pours or spits diverse libations (alcohol, palm oil or chicken blood), as an offering, on the voodoo fetishes, in order to intercede with the god, which confers to this piece its characteristic crusty patina.
